Under the theme "Functional Materials and Nanotechnology" latest achievements in the area of synthesis and application of innovative materials with special functionalities will be discussed.
There will be a broad interdisciplinary spectrum ranging from material science basics to applications in bionanomedicine and regenerative medicine with a special topic on " The Cell-Material Dialogue". Among the internationally recognized speakers from universities, research centers and industry are Prof. K. J. Jandt, Jena, Dr. G. Gille, Goslar, Prof. M.El Fray, Szczecin, Poland, Dr. H. Brückl, Vienna, Austria, Dr. R. Heuchel, Stockholm, Sweden, Prof. R. Schlögl, Berlin and Prof. V. Mironov, Carolina, USA. The meeting will mobilize cooperation between science and small and medium sized companies.
At the beginning new opportunities for regenerative medecine and bio-materials in FP7 will be presented by Dr. Arnd Hoeveler, head of the unit Biotechnology for Health at the European Commission in Brussels.
The public lecture by Prof. Wolfgang Heckl from Munich about "Chancen und Risiken der Nanotechnologie" on June 26th at 15:00 will be a special highlight. Prof. Heckl is general director of the Deutsches Museum in Munich and head of the Kompetenzzentrum Nanobiotechnology (ENNaB) in Munich. Especially for this lecture, all interested persons, especially scholars and teachers of the region are invited.

"New Materials" and "The Cell-Material Dialogue" are established topics in education and research at the University of Rostock since several years. Since 2005 the Materials Days Rostock are performed every year.
For this event international scientists come to Rostock and share their latest ideas also with our students of
International PhD Programme Science and Engineering of New Materials at the University Rostock.
This is supported by the EU Marie Curie Early Stage Training Project ADVATEC (Advanced Training in Hybrid Technologies for Nanostructured Composites)
Free admission to all lectures.
