„Man Ray and the Shakespearian Equations”, Frankreich 2019, Regie: Quentin Lazzarotto, 69 Minuten, französisches Original mit englischen Untertiteln
Der Film fasst eine spannende Verbindung von Wissenschaft und Kunst ins Auge, indem er sich dem Leben und Werk des surrealistischen Künstlers Man Ray widmet. Dieser entdeckt im Paris der 1930er Jahre einen vergessenen Schrank an der Sorbonne mit merkwürdigen geometrischen Skulpturen. Man Ray wird von diesen von der Wissenschaft geformten Modellen inspiriert und schafft ein erstaunliches fotografisches wie malerisches Werk. Das Treffen zwischen Surrealismus und Mathematik bringen ihn und seine Kamera in eine Welt zwischen Realität und Abstraktion.
Zugeschaltet wird der Regisseur Quentin Lazzarotto. Die Diskussion findet auf Englisch statt.
