Towards a challenge-oriented approach to regional innovation policies

In response to persistent environmental and social challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, and growing inequalities, it is imperative that regional innovation policies undergo a critical reassessment and reorientation. Recent research has pointed towards a more progressive understanding of innovation and a recognition of the potential of mission-oriented and transformative policies.
