Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz is among Germany’s top five academic institutions in the field of Physics

Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) has achieved very good results in the 2016 Nature Index Ranking, especially in Physics. It is thus one of the top five German universities when it comes to research in this field. In this year’s Nature Index, Physics at JGU took 5th place out of 76 in the national university ranking and came in at 69th worldwide. In comparison with the 2015 ranking, Physics at JGU has thus moved up by one place in the national ranking. Geosciences (rank 13) and Life Sciences (rank 21) are both positioned among the top third at German universities.

The ranking list of the Nature Publishing Group is based on the number of publications that appear in major international journals and is issued on an annual basis.
