HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management

For the second time in a row, HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management managed to achieve a place in the global top 100 MBA ranking by The Economist. HHL's full-time MBA program is in 89th place worldwide. The school was rated particularly highly for the career entry. HHL achieved 8th place worldwide regarding successful job offers and placements after graduation and 28th place regarding the salary increase after completion of an MBA program. This makes HHL number one in these two important categories among the German institutions offering MBA programs, of which only a total of four business schools were ranked in the top 100.

HHL Dean Prof. Dr. Stephan Stubner regards the results as substantiation of the content and strategies of HHL's MBA program. He comments, "In its ranking, The Economist reflects the quality-oriented and practical benefits of completing an MBA program at our university – we are thrilled with this recognition. The positive feedback from our alumni from all over the world is both an affirmation and a positive challenge."

The worldwide ranking by The Economist underlines the attractiveness of Germany as an MBA location. Prof. Dr. Stubner says, "In our international contacts, we have seen that Germany as a location for the education of future executive has, in fact, very few frontrunners like us but is becoming increasingly relevant, also for political reasons." To be able to promote the education location with regard to the MBA and Master in Management programs in the best possible way, HHL continues to build on the MBA Alliance of Germany's leading business schools.

International executives for the job market

The current M18 MBA class at Germany's first business school with Master students from 27 nations has an internationality level of 93 percent. The number of students completing this successful program has been doubled to 60. The number of nations from which the students come to HHL: 27 countries on all continents, compared to 13 previously. HHL's alumni are in high demand as executives and 80% of them are hired by German companies or their international offices immediately after obtaining the Master of Business Administration degree.

    Important MBA ranking

The 2017 MBA Ranking by The Economist is considered to be one of the most comprehensive and significant of its kind internationally for full-time MBA programs with a focus on General Management. The rating uses data from two surveys. One polls alumni of the school on the categories of personal development, education experience, career opportunities and network. The other data is collected at the schools and university-level institutions themselves. The criteria which are considered for the ranking include the internationality and structure of the program.

The Master Program in General Management (MBA) at HHL

In order to meet the individual requirements and career aspirations of its national and international students, HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management offers a Fast Track option in addition to the Advanced Track version. While the Fast Track may be completed in a residential phase of twelve months followed by three months preparation time for the Master's thesis, the extended Advanced Track is set to last up to 21 months. The Fast Track program mainly addresses the needs of participants with five or more years of professional experience, allowing them to return to work after only one year of studying. The longer Advanced Track Program is an option best suited to junior executives with three to five years of professional experience and international students in particular. The benefits of the Advanced Track include a greater variety of electives, an optional term abroad, an internship and/or a German language course, which might be of particular interest to the international participants.
The MBA program offered by HHL, which is taught in English, is considered one of the best independently-developed programs of this kind in Germany. The proportion of international students in this HHL program is over 90 percent, an outstanding figure in comparison to full-time MBA programs globally. Since its introduction in the year 2000, the full-time MBA program has focused on teaching management and leadership skills in a global context. This is supported by an innovative curriculum and 28 lecturers from seven different countries. They provide students with insight into the latest scientific management approaches in a global context. The practical relation is ensured by teaching content with practical relevance including case studies, a field project accompanying the program or an optional internship abroad. International Management is not only taught but also integrated into everyday life at HHL thanks to the international background of the students and professors. The international cross-linking of the program is denoted by substantial cooperation with universities abroad. From Australia to the U.S. – HHL has more than 130 partner universities worldwide. The students have the opportunity to spend a term at one of these partner universities. The intensive and professional counseling for students from initial contact to the alumni network has to be emphasized. HHL's Career Service accompanies students from the day they are admitted to the program until the successful conclusion of a job search. Further information: www.hhl.de/mba
