Kim-Astrid Magister Pressestelle
Technische Universität Dresden

The positive trend continues. Since 2014, TU Dresden has climbed by a total of 83 places and now holds 179th place in the QS World University Ranking. Compared to last year, TUD has moved up an impressive 12 places. Thus, the trend of steady improvement over the past seven years continues. TU Dresden has also achieved a high score at the national level ranking 11th in Germany.

TUD's position in the QS ranking really speaks for itself. The university performed superbly not only in the overall ranking but also in the individual assessments of various indicators. Five out of six indicators improved by an average of nine places compared to the previous year. TUD’s reputation as an employer was also given an excellent assessment. In this regard, it ranks 99th among the 100 best universities worldwide and 7th in Germany. Concerning the indicator "academic reputation", which describes the image a university has among academics, TUD has also made a substantial improvement of 13 places.

The QS World University Ranking is an international ranking system by the British service provider Quacquarelli Symonds that has been in operation since 2004. For this year’s ranking, the QS team compared more than 4,000 universities and compiled over 93 million citations from more than 13 million scientific publications. 1,001 universities made it onto the ranking list and 47 of these were from Germany. In addition to the number and citation frequency of publications, the assessment focused on the reputation of universities among international researchers and business partners, the ratio of faculty to students as well as the percentage of international students and employees.

Published annually, the QS World University Ranking belongs to the most influential international university rating lists alongside the Times Higher Education World University Ranking and the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).
