In support of outstanding research, the Rudolf Hermanns foundation
can issue awards of up to 10,000 € for researchers from European
institutions.
Prerequisite is the confirmed excellence of research in the fields of
viticulture, oenology or horticulture.
Scientific projects and research achievements must be clearly
documented for internal and/or external evaluation through peer review.
The following examples will be considered as proof of excellence:
• publications in recognized scientific journals, or in certain cases, the
respective manuscripts
• general recognition by the scientific community or specialists in the
respective field of research in the form of recommendation letters
• outstanding doctoral theses
The prize can also be awarded for work in progress, if results show a high
probability that scientific excellence can be achieved.
Eligible are achievements reported during the most recent calendar year.
Junior scientists are especially encouraged to apply.
If the recipient of an award is a working group or an institution, the
prize money can only be used to support specific research projects.
The trustees determine the allocation to the individual prize categories
depending on quality and ranking. They also determine the number of
prizes, depending on the quality of work and the funds available. The
decision is binding with no right of appeal.
Applications should consist of a curriculum vitae (cv), a detailed
description of the research project, a list of publications and two letters of
recommendation.
