Media representatives can register for the 72nd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting (Physiology/Medicine). We are particularly pleased that the Meeting will be held without restrictions as an on-site event after three years in which journalists could mainly participate digitally.

Around 40 Nobel Laureates have confirmed their participation in the meeting. They will play a major role in shaping the programme from Sunday, 25 June, to Friday, 30 June 2023, and will exchange ideas with more than 600 Young Scientists from all over the world.

The agenda includes current issues such as diversity in science, artificial intelligence in medicine and the impact of climate change on health will be discussed. The Next Gen Science Sessions will give Young Scientists a stage to present their own research.

Structure of the 72nd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting

The programme starts on Sunday, 25 June at 13.30 hrs CEST, with an opening ceremony and musical accompaniment by an ensemble of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. At 15.00 hrs, a panel discussion with Martin Chalfie, Emmanuelle Charpentier, Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard and Harold E. Varmus on the topic of diversity in science will kick off the scientific programme. A reception in the foyer of the Inselhalle will then provide the first opportunity for Young Scientists from all over the world to exchange ideas with each other and with the Nobel Laureates.

This will be followed by two eagerly awaited Lindau premieres: Francis H. Arnold, 2018 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry and co-chair of US President Joe Biden's Council of Advisors on Technology and Science, will give her first lecture in Lindau. Finally, Morten Meldal, 2022 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry and 1986 Lindau Alumnus, will bring the opening day to a special close.

On the first evening, media representatives will have the opportunity to get to know other journalists and the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings’ communications team at a press reception.

On the following four days, the Lindau Inselhalle will host a variety of programme formats such as lectures, panel discussions, Agora Talks and Next Gen Science Sessions, supplemented by the popular Science Walks and Laureate Lunches. On the closing day (30 June) with the traditional boat trip to Mainau Island, the topic of “Climate Change and Implications on Health” will be on the agenda.
