Berlin Demography Days

At the Berlin Demography Days, we invite international experts from the fields of politics, science and society to discuss population developments in Germany, Europe and the world. This year's event is dedicated to the topic of 'younger people'. We will focus on generational fairness and participation, the consequences of the COVID pandemic and resilience, the importance of the early years of life for the life course and policy strategies with younger people at their centre.

On the first day (May 16), there will be a hybrid opening event in the evening (18:00 to 20:00 Berlin time, followed by a reception), including:

- a welcome session with i.a. Anne Spiegel, Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, and Juliane Seifert, State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community
- a panel discussion with i.a. Dubravka Šuica, the European Commission Vice President for Democracy and Demography, population experts, and students from schools in France, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria and Germany and
- a prize ceremony for the European Demographer Awards

This hybrid event will take place in the WissenschaftsForum at Gendarmenmarkt in the centre of Berlin and at the same time accessible be online.

Apart from the opening event, there will be several online sessions each day.
