Der Philosoph Markus Gabriel hält einen öffentlichen Abendvortrag an der Hochschule für Philosophie der Jesuiten in München. Unter dem Titel „Sinn und Existenz“ präsentiert er am Montag, 30. Mai 2016, zentrale Thesen seines bei Suhrkamp erschienenen gleichnamigen Buches. Die Veranstaltung in der Aula der Hochschule (Kaulbachstraße 31) beginnt um 19.30 Uhr.
Gabriel vertritt in seinem Werk – gegen bedeutende Philosophen wie Immanuel Kant und Gottlob Frege – eine Ontologie der Sinnfelder. Zu existieren heißt demzufolge, in einem Sinnfeld zu erscheinen. In diesem Zusammenhang postuliert er einen „Neuen Realismus“.
Markus Gabriel wurde 2009 mit nur 29 Jahren als jüngster Philosophie-Professor Deutschlands an die Universität Bonn berufen. Dort ist er Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Erkenntnistheorie, Philosophie der Neuzeit und Gegenwart und leitet gemeinsam mit Michael Forster das Internationale Zentrum für Philosophie NRW.
