The 2018 Startup Radar of Stifterverband once again honors the excellent entrepreneurial culture at HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management.
HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management received continued recognition as a one of the best places for aspiring entrepreneurs in Germany. Occupying the top spot for the previous rankings in 2012, 2013 and 2016, HHL maintained its first-rate rank among the small universities in the Startup Radar ranking published by Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft (Founder’s Association for German Science), which encompasses all German business schools and universities with up to 5,000 students
The ranking, published by Stifterverband, evaluates how well universities support students and researchers in their entrepreneurial activities. It looks specifically at the various approaches and critical success factors concerning how schools foster entrepreneurship, and offers recommendations for both politicians and universities. Under the patronage of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, and in cooperation with the Heinz Nixdorf Foundation, Stifterverband shows a vital impetus for the further development of entrepreneurship facilitation at universities.
HHL Dean Stephan Stubner says, “We are proud to announce that out of the small business schools evaluated, HHL received the top spot for its startup friendly environment and founder support services. The HHL story is a story of entrepreneurial success, and we are honored to be recognized for our dedication to both the regional and national start-up scene!”
A leading institution for startups in Germany
HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management has developed into a very successful incubator for company creation with over 280 start-ups established by HHL alumni over the past 20 years. The founders’ entrepreneurial commitment has created more than 10,000 jobs already. HHL uses the facilitation of entrepreneurial activities as an important profiling characteristic for the school.
The strong roots and high relevance of the topic is not only shown by the fact that the education of entrepreneurs is very much emphasized in HHL’s mission statement and programs, but also in the highlighting of the entrepreneurial spirit in the Leipzig Leadership Model. HHL lives and breathes the entrepreneurial spirit in all fields – research, teaching and administration. This is e.g. reflected in the yearly Accelerate Conference, the Investors Days and SpinLab – The HHL Accelerator. Additionally, the topic of entrepreneurship has been explicitly assigned to the Dean’s Office – Prof. Dr. Stephan Stubner himself holds one of three chairs focusing on entrepreneurship.
