The first days, weeks and months are often decisive for the later success of one’s studies. First-year students at Jacobs University Bremen can be sure that the university will give them an excellent start. This was confirmed by the renowned CHE university ranking in its current evaluation. The English-language campus university achieved top marks in the categories "Support at the Beginning of Studies" and "International Orientation". This year, Jacobs University is represented in the most comprehensive and detailed ranking of the German-speaking university landscape with the two study courses Electrical and Computer Engineering as well as Psychology.

The CHE (Center for Higher Education Development) ranking is based on facts about studying, teaching and research, as well as on students' assessments of the study conditions at their respective universities. "The students' positive assessment of their entry into their studies is of particular importance to us," says Prof. Dr. Kappas, Dean of Jacobs University. During the orientation week, the so-called "O-Week", first-year students are extensively introduced to learning, doing research and living together at the university. The intensive and personal support by professors and lecturers from the very beginning is also a major plus for Jacobs University. Each individual course of study at the private university is transdisciplinary and flexible. In the first year, undergraduates can select individual study modules according to their personal interests.

With students from over 110 countries, Jacobs University is one of the most international universities in the country. The courses are also internationally oriented: Students gain valuable experience during stays at partner universities all over the world or during internships in companies or research institutes. "We promote this exchange because we firmly believe in internationality and open-mindedness," emphasizes Prof. Dr. Werner Nau, Dean of Jacobs University who’s responsible for the Bachelor programs. "In addition, we are convinced that in a digitized and globalized world, only those who can work in an international environment can explore and identify new paths."

Jacobs University also achieved top rankings in other areas of the current CHE ranking, which, with over 150,000 students surveyed and more than 300 universities and colleges, is the most comprehensive and detailed university comparison in German-speaking countries. This applies, for example, to scientific references, publications and the research funds raised per scientist or to the facilities available at the university. Jacobs University had already achieved excellent results in the CHE ranking in recent years - as in other comparisons such as the U-Multirank or the World University Ranking of the Times Higher Education (THE) magazine, in which Jacobs University is ranked among the top 300 universities worldwide.
