EBU Scientific Forum 2021: International Conference on Bioeconomy Research and Teaching in Europe

    Wed, 22 Sept 2021, starting at 10:00 a.m.: Public part of the online conference / European Bioeconomy University EBU chaired by the University of Hohenheim invites all interested parties

    They are the think tank of the bioeconomy in Europe: On 22-23 September 2021, researchers from the six leading universities in the field of bioeconomy will gather for the EBU Scientific Forum 2021 digital event. AgroParisTech (France), the Universities of Bologna (Italy), Eastern Finland (Finland), Hohenheim (Germany), the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences Vienna (Austria), and the Wageningen University and Research Center (Netherlands) joined forces to form the European Bioeconomy University (EBU) in 2019. The alliance aims to actively work toward transforming Europe’s economy and society to become more sustainabe.     The EBU Scientific Forum 2021 provides a platform for EBU members to present their research and discuss formats for teaching about the bioeconomy. It promotes exchange and networking among the researchers and the partners of the network.

    The event will be held in English. Interested parties are invited to register via the EBU Scientific Forum website. Participation is free of charge.

    Representatives of the press should contact the EBU Secretariat at ebu@ua.uni-hohenheim.de, stating the medium for which they are working.

    Bioeconomy in all its facets

    After the opening on 22 September at 10 a.m. by the heads of the six universities, the first plenary session will start at 11 a.m., with all participating universities presenting projects on research and teaching in the bioeconomy.

    Starting at 1:30 p.m. you can choose from among several parallel sessions:
    - Sustainable biobased resources and ecosystem services for the bioeconomy
    - From biomass to biobased products
    - Bioeconomy-related business models and sustainable entrepreneurship
    - The integrative systems approach for the innovative bioeconomy
    - Educate system changers: novel educational concepts and required skills profiles

    The next block, starting at 3:30 p.m., will include short presentations from various research areas.
