The traditional spring meeting of the German Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (GBM e.V.), the Mosbacher Kolloquium, will take place from March 30th to April 1st, 2017. Scientific organizers are Chris Meisinger (Freiburg), Jan Riemer (Köln) and Blanche Schwappach (Göttingen). The topic of the 68th meeting is "Cell Organelles - Origin, Dynamics and Communication".
At the meeting, emerging new concepts of organellar biology will be discussed by leading experts covering topics such as communication between organelles, fine-tuning of organellar morphology and motility, compensation of loss in organellar function by other organelles, organellar contact sites, and adaption of organellar identity to different physiological or pathohysiological states.
GBM will award the Feodor Lynen medal to Jodi Nunnari (Davis, USA) and the Eduard Buchner Prize to Manu Hegde (Cambridge, UK).
Young researchers will have the opportunity to meet the awardees in GBM’s traditional and very popular “Meet the Prof” sessions.
On March 29th at 4 p.m., in the run-up to the Mosbacher Kolloquium, the GBM working group „Young Investigators“ kindly invites PhD students, post-docs and young group leaders to a discussion of the current funding situation in Germany with respect to young group leaders. Members of the working group will inform the audience about different programs of smaller and larger funding bodies and will provide hands-on experience.
This will be followed by a Q&A session and opportunities to discuss the topics in small groups. A registration for this event is required (deadline: March 20th, 2017) and possible via the conference website.
