Six German research networks in the BMBF’s international “Shaping the Future – Building the City of Tomorrow” campaign are promoting themselves from 3 to 6 May 2017 at the “Smart Cities NYC ‘17” trade fair in New York to find international partners for joint urban development projects.
Within the context of live demonstrations, expert discussions and workshop participations, the German network representatives will present their innovative projects, system solutions and user-friendly software solutions for urban resilience, e.g. against hurricanes and terrorism attacks, for optimum energy and resource efficiency and better acceptance of urban planning changes through integrative planning, to US urban planning experts from politics, science and research.
Research cooperations between US and German partners hold major potential for synergies and innovation and are regarded as being particularly promising in order to develop solutions for the numerous challenges of the city of tomorrow. The participation in the Smart Cities NYC `17 trade fair is the second stage of current international research marketing campaign, “Shaping the Future – Building the City of Tomorrow” of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). It is providing ten excellent research networks with a platform for presenting their innovative projects for sustainable urban development abroad and for networking with strong partners throughout the world.
International networks were already established at the German Science Day in Ho Chi Minh City in March, which will be followed by participations in leading trade fairs throughout the world, such as the “Smart Cities India” in New Delhi from 10 - 12 May 2017. Further activities are planned in China, India, USA, Vietnam and Columbia.
