How companies can reinvent themselves

Thomas Joppig Corporate Communications & Public Relations
Jacobs University Bremen gGmbH

Everyone is talking about digital transformation, and many companies regard it as one of their most important tasks. But existing approaches do not go far enough, a digitization of business processes - the "digital transformation" - alone is not enough to survive in competition in the long run. To be fit for the future, a "digital rebirth" is necessary, argues Sven Voelpel, Professor of Business Administration at Jacobs University Bremen, in his new book published jointly with Professor Marius Leibold. Their message: Companies need to reinvent themselves if their digitization shall be successful.

According to the authors, "Digital Rebirth" describes the reorientation of a company's goals, services, culture and processes. Using examples, Leibold and Voelpel describe how well-known companies have mastered this process or are working on it. At the same time, they describe the framework conditions, ways of thinking and processes necessary for a Digital Rebirth, as well as methods and practical tools for implementation. The book is aimed at entrepreneurs, executives, HR employees, consultants and anyone interested in digital strategies.

Sven Voelpel is Professor of Business Administration at Jacobs University since 2004. He is the author of numerous publications, including bestselling Amazon textbooks and audio books and Harvard Business School case studies. Marius Leibold has been a professor at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, among other places, and has been addressing himself to issues of the digital future for a long time.
