Refugees can register for offers to prepare for studies and career entry
The Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU) will continue to support people with a refugee background in the coming semester with a comprehensive range of offers: in addition to language courses, the HU4Refugees program and the opportunity for prospective students to attend lectures as guests, this will also include workshops on vocational preparation for students.
For prospective students
A counseling hour for refugees is available in German, Arabic and English at the Student Service Center, Unter den Linden 6, every Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Registration is not required.
In the 2019/2020 winter semester, the HU will offer four preparatory language courses at levels B2 and C1 for refugees interested in studying. Registration for the courses are possible from 08/19/2019 to 09/01/2019.
The HU4Refugees program enables refugees without enrollment to complete studies and examinations that can be credited to later studies. Those interested can apply for the program between 08/05/2019 and 08/18/2019.
Refugees who are interested in studying at HU also have the opportunity to take part in HU study events as guest students.
Invitation
On 08/13/2019, the HU is organizing a Refugees Welcome Day from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. in room 2093 (HU main building, Unter den Linden 6), for refugees interested in studying. On this day, those interested can get detailed information about the various offers and make first contacts with the student initiatives. The event will be held in German and Arabic. Registration is not required.
For students
In the 2019/2020 winter semester, one- and two-day workshops will be offered at the HU for refugees and international students on the topics of the labor market in Germany, career entry and orientation, careers in science as well as intercultural training. Since as early as the 2015/2016 winter semester, the offers for refugees at HU have been successfully supported by the DAAD funding lines “INTEGRA” and “Welcome”. Since then, almost 1,000 refugees interested in studying have attended the INTEGRA language courses and workshops at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and/or taken part in lectures as guest students.
