Inhalt: Riboswitche sind neu entdeckte, weit verbreitete bakterielle Regulatorelemente, die auf direkter RNA-Ligand-Wechselwirkung beruhen. Mit einer Kombination aus "in vitro"-Selektion, "in vivo"-Screening und rationalem Design entwickelten wir verschiedene synthetische Riboswitche als universell einsetzbare Schalterelemente für die konditionale Genexpression und analysierten an ihnen Struktur-Funktionsbeziehungen dieser neuartigen Regulatorklasse.
