Die Tagung will das Verhältnis von Afrika und Europa aus dieser einseitigen Perspektive lösen, es hinsichtlich ausgewählter Gesichtspunkte analysieren und politische Handlungsperspektiven erarbeiten. Für die Tagung werden hierfür unterschiedliche Themenfelder herausgegriffen, beispielsweise Armutsbekämpfung, afrikanisch-europäische Migrationspolitik, die Rolle von Frauen in Afrika oder interreligiöse Entwicklungszusammenarbeit.

Das Institut für Gesellschaftspolitik ist an der Hochschule für Philosophie der Jesuiten in München http://www.hfph.mwn.de angesiedelt. Es widmet sich aus wissenschaftlicher wie praktischer Perspektive Fragen im globalen Kontext. Themenfelder sind u.a. Entwicklungspolitik, Weltwirtschaft, Wirtschaftsethik und interreligiöser Dialog.
