Die Konferenz zeigt neue und bedeutende Entwicklungen der Open Source Audio Bewegung. Vorträge gibt es zu den Themen Computer Music, Music Production, Drivers und Sound Architectures und Audio Distributions. Willkommen ist jeder, der sich für das Musizieren unter Linux bzw. open source interessiert. Die LAC bietet ein reiches Angebot an Workshops, Tutorials und Hands-on-Demos, in denen auf die Bedürfnisse sowohl von erfahrenen Anwendern als auch "Neulingen" eingegangen wird. Neben den Vorträgen finden an allen Tagen Konzerte statt. Alle Stücke sind mit Hilfe von Open Source Software komponiert. Höhepunkt des künstlerischen Teils der Tagung ist die Einweihung eines neuen Hörsaals der TU Berlin, dessen riesiges Raumklangsystem (Wellenfeldsynthese) mit Hilfe eines Linux-Clusters betrieben wird.
