North Atlantic Subpolar Gyre and Global Climate: Results of the Collaborative Research Centre 460

The CLIVAR Atlantic Implementation Panel together with the Collaborative Research Centre (Sonderforschungsbereich or SFB) 460 is sponsoring the workshop: "Dynamics of Thermohaline Circulation Variability". The workshop about the North Atlantic Subpolar Gyre will take stock of recent advances in observations, modeling and understanding of subpolar gyre dynamics, their interaction with the regional and global climate system, and impacts on the marine chemistry. Special emphasis will be placed to define the need for future coordinated efforts with regards to process and sustained observations, modeling and reanalysis.

The SFB 460 is supported by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) and is coming to a close of 10 years of research, conducted at the University of Kiel and at IFM-GEOMAR, Leibniz Institute of Marine Sciences.
