The conference is a site determination of the most essential protagonists and outlines the potential of innovative technologies and preventative security research on an international standard. Under the main topics "Protection of Critical Infrastructures - Defense against Terrorism, Vandalism, and Assault - Security and Protection of Citizen" international experts from industry, public authorities, science and research will provide and discuss their points of view, the current situation and solutions for the future. The conference will serve as an international and interdisciplinary communication platform for decision-makers, executive bodies, economic organizations and research and development partners. The conference defines the position of key organizations and demonstrates the potential of innovative technologies and preventative research for civil security on an international level.
Four different sessions structure the conference. It begins with "Strategic Precaution - Staying One Step Ahead", the conversation focuses here on the political aspects of safety research. After the introduction by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research BMBF - which has taken over the patronage of the conference - international key holders from Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands and the USA will give a global overview of available technologies, methods and efforts.
The next subject area deals with the "Detection and Assessment of Threats and Dangers". The head of Germany's Federal Criminal Police Office BKA, as well as representatives of an insurance agency and the European Fire Academy, for example, will give oral presentations.
The third session discusses "Prevention, Protection, and Defense". How can we protect critical financial or built infrastructures, how can we close the gap between military and civil security research? Answers to these important questions are expected here.
The last session is dedicated to "Security Management". International representatives from industry, the executive vice president for airport security management at Frankfurt airport or public authorities from the ministry of the interior and kingdom relation in the Netherlands will talk about new concepts and solutions in the case of a disaster and how to respond to a crisis.
The first Future Security Conference in Karlsruhe in 2006 was an enormous success. The Fraunhofer Defense and Security Alliance is confident it can create a high quality communication platform for industry, public authorities and research. The new concept, combining the congress with the trade fair SAFEON, which takes place simultaneously at the same venue with free entrance for the participants of the congress, offers a special international meeting point in the heart of Europe.
