Siting, planning and construction of geological repositories are gradually advancing. The present state of the art in Research and Development (R&D) is highlighted by results from experiments in Underground Rock Laboratories (URL) as well as by radio-chemical research and analytical studies. These studies focus particularly on the long-term safety of disposal concepts for high level and long lived radioactive waste in geological formations.
In geological media such as claystone and rock salt thermo-hydraulic-mechanical processes as well as geochemical processes determine to some extent the isolation of the radionuclides from the biosphere. For this reason excavation damage, radionuclide migration, gas pressure and spent fuel/glass corrosion are subjects of REPOSAFE.
Integrated system analyses and Performance Assessment (PA) studies using ad-vanced computer models contribute to an in-depth understanding of the long-term processes and safety. Different PA case studies on granite and rock salt as well as groundwater flow and radionuclide transport models demonstrate the latest achievements. In this context radiological risks and safety requirements are highlighted.
Also strategic and managements issues of high-level radioactive waste disposal are subjects of REPOSAFE.

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
