Prof. Dr.-Ing. Johann-Dietrich Wörner, Vorsitzender des Vorstands des DLR, berichtet über die allgemeinen Aufgaben und Anforderungen des DLR-Programmes. Er wird die nationale Bedeutung der Raumfahrt beschreiben und das breite Spektrum von Kompetenzen verschiedenster Disziplinen darstellen, das erforderlich ist, um komplexe Weltraummissionen sachkundig durchzuführen.
Dipl.-Ing. Thomas Reiter, letztjähriger ESA-Astronaut in der ISS-Raumstation und DLR-Vorstand für Raumfahrt, spricht über seine ISS-Mission ASTROLAB und die künftige ESA-Mission mit dem Weltraumlabor "Columbus", wodurch die Europäische Weltraumagentur ESA erstmalig über eine eigene Infrastruktur zur Durchführung einer Vielzahl von Untersuchungen und Experimenten verfügen wird.
