Im Jahr 2008 jährt sich der Todestag von Wolfgang Beitz zum 10. Mal. Aus diesem Anlass findet zum dritten Mal die Verleihung des Wolfgang Beitz-Preises durch die Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft für Maschinenelemente, Konstruktionstechnik und Produktentwicklung e.V. (wgmk) und den Berliner Kreis - Wissenschaftliches Forum für Produktentwicklung e.V. statt. Der Preis wird für ein innovatives Produkt, das auf die erfolgreiche Umsetzung der methodischen Produktentwicklung zurückzuführen ist, für die Weiterentwicklung der Methodik oder die erfolgreiche Einführung in die Praxis vergeben.
