Ein Warnsystem muss kleine Wellen schon auf dem offenen Meer erkennen können und schnell sein. Die bislang durchgeführten Erdbebenmessungen reichen allein nicht aus, da nicht jedes Beben zu einem Tsunami führt. Einer Gruppe von Wissenschaftlern ist es nun gelungen, ein effektives Frühwarnsystem zu entwickeln, das die Küstenbewohner rechtzeitig und präzise vor den Monsterwellen warnen kann.
Jörn Behrens wird in seinem Vortrag zeigen, wie Tsunamis entstehen und wie das Warnsystem funktioniert.
