Seit mehr als 2000 Jahren, von Ptolemäus über Kepler und Newton bis Einstein, spielen geometrische Ideen eine zentrale Rolle bei der Beschreibung von Himmelserscheinungen.
Der Vortrag von Prof. Dr. Gerhard Huisken, Leibniz-Preisträger und Direktor des Max-Planck-Institutes für Gravitationsphysik in Potsdam, erläutert grundlegende Ideen in Analysis, Geometrie und Physik, mit denen in der modernen Forschung Phänomene wie "Schwarze Löcher" und "Gravitationswellen" beschrieben werden.
