Die Ehrenamtlichen erhalten eine kostenlose qualifizierende Schulung zum Daseinsthematischen Begleiter, die sie befähigt, eine individuell fördernde Betreuung von Menschen mit Demenz zu leisten. Der Zeitaufwand liegt bei circa vier Stunden im Monat.
Im Mittelpunkt der Betreuung stehen das subjektive Erleben und die Lebensqualität des Demenzkranken. Die Tätigkeit ist an kein Alter gebunden.
Das Projekt wird geleitet von Prof. Dr. Johannes Pantel, Stiftungsprofessur Gerontopsychiatrie an der Klinik für Psychiatrie, Psychosomatik und Psychotherapie der J.W. Goethe-Universität Frankfurt/M. in Kooperation mit Prof. Dr. Andreas Kruse und Prof. Dr. Johannes Schröder von der Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg sowie dem Bürgerinstitut - soziales Engagement in Frankfurt.
Das Projektteam lädt alle Interessierten zu einer Informationsveranstaltung ein.
