Die Ausstellung wurde von Studierenden der Universität Potsdam und der Leibniz Universität Hannover erarbeitet und entstand während eines Lehrforschungsprojektes des Moses Mendelssohn Zentrums in zwei aufeinanderfolgenden Semestern 2007/2008. Die Eröffnung im Lichthof des Welfenschlosses ist am 2. Dezember 2008 um 17 Uhr. Prof. Erich Barke, Präsident der Leibniz Universität Hannover, Dr. phil. Kotowski vom Moses Mendelssohn Zentrum sowie Jan Drewitz, Kulturreferent des AStA der Universität Hannover werden Grußworte sprechen. Theodor Lessing, der 1872 in Hannover geboren wurde, lehrte als Privatdozent für Pädagogik und Philosophie an der Technischen Hochschule Hannover. 1926 musste er seine Lehrtätigkeit aufgeben und wurde 1933 in Marienbad, seinem tschechischen Exil, von Nationalsozialisten ermordet.
