1st OMEGA Open Event on Home Networking

The Open Event will present the state-of-the-art on home networking technologies and make the participants familiar with OMEGA's concepts and technological solutions. The technological topics covered include Radio, Power Line Communication (PLC), Wireless Optics, and Inter-Mac. The event will consist of a tutorial part on the first day, and a workshop part on the second day.

On 5 - 6 February 2009, the 1st OMEGA Open Event on Home Networking will take place at the Orange Labs premises in Rennes, France.

The Open Event is organised by the European research project OMEGA and will provide first-hand information from leading European researchers on the state-of-the-art in home networking technologies and on OMEGA's concepts and technological solutions.

The event is relevant for everybody who is professionally interested in the future of home networking. It addresses particularly experts and decision-makers from network operations, researchers from related projects, representatives from standardisation organizations, and graduate students.

The Open Event consists of two parts: a tutorial part on the first day (5 February), and a workshop part on the second day (6 February). It will focus on four main topics in the home networking context: Radio, Power Line Communication (PLC), Wireless Optics, and Inter-Mac.

About OMEGA:
OMEGA is a large-scale integrating project (IP) in the ICT area. It will develop a user-friendly home area network capable of delivering high-bandwidth services and content at a transmission speed of one Gigabit per second. The interdisciplinary project consortium consists of 20 European partners from industry and academia and is coordinated by Orange Labs, France Telecom. OMEGA receives funding by the European Commission under the Seventh Research Framework Programme (FP7). The project is running for three years from January 2008 to December 2010.

Participation is free of charge, but registration is required.
The registration deadline is 9 January 2009.

The number of participants is limited to 80. Registrations will be handled on a 'first come, first serve' basis.
