Im neuen Jahr geht nun das Festival zu Ende. Als letzter Film wird am Mittwoch, dem 7. Januar 2009 um 19.30 Uhr der Streifen "Moebius" im Filmhaus Saarbrücken gezeigt.
"Moebius" ist ein Spielfilm, der an der Universidad del Cine, Buenos Aires, als Projektarbeit von Studenten entstand. Er basiert auf einer Erzählung des nordamerikanischen Wissenschaftlers A.J. Deutsch, die 1950 unter dem Titel "Ein Tunnel namens Moebius" erschienen ist. Im verzweigten Schienennetz von Buenos Aires verschwindet auf mysteriöse Weise ein U-Bahn-Zug. Ein junger Mathematiker begibt sich in das labyrinthartige Netz und stellt fest, dass der Zug in eine so genannte Moebius-Schleife geraten ist. Eine Moebius-Schleife ist eine zweidimensionale Struktur, die nur eine Kante und eine Fläche hat. Eine anschauliche Moebius-Schleife erhält man, wenn man einen längeren Streifen Papier mit beiden Enden ringförmig zusammenklebt, das eine Ende aber vor dem Zusammenkleben um 180 Grad verdreht.
Der Film wird in spanischer Originalsprache mit deutschen Untertiteln gezeigt. Im Anschluss führt Prof. Dr. Rainer Schulze-Pillot durch die Diskussion.
