Die Physik, die um 1800 ihren akademischen Ort in den philosophischen Fakultäten hatte, gerät unter dem Einfluß der romantischen Naturphilosophie in ein Beziehungsgfeflecht von Erfahrung, Experiment und Theorie.
Der Workshop geht den kulturhistorischen Aspekten dieser Epoche der Wissenschaftsgeschichte von Goethe bis Achim von Arnim nach, in der das synthetisch-intuitive wie poetische Herangehen der Romantik für die Physiker zur Methode wurde, nach übergeordneten Sinnzusammenhängen in der Wissenschaft zu fahnden. Die Vorträge befassen sich im Einzelnen mit Goethe, Kielmeyer, Novalis, Steffens, Fries, Schelling, Ritter und Arnim.
