Die Europäische Akademie Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler GmbH veranstaltet ihre diesjährige Herbsttagung am 8. und 9. Oktober 2009 in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler zum Thema "Concepts of animal welfare: interdisciplinary perspectives". Der Begriff "animal welfare" (etwa als "Wohlergehen von Tieren" zu übersetzen) ist ein zentraler Begriff sowohl in der Forschung, als auch in rechtlichen Zusammenhängen und der öffentlichen Wahrnehmung - seine Bedeutung ist jedoch unklar. Die Tagung bringt Wissenschaftler aus den Bereichen der "animal welfare science", Jurisprudenz, Tierethik und Wissenschaftsphilosophie zusammen, um zu erörtern, wie philosophische Analysen zur weiteren Entwicklung der "animal welfare science" unter Berücksichtigung ihrer gesellschaftlichen Einbettung beitragen können.
