Die 88. Jahrestagung der Deutschen Physiologischen Gesellschaft findet in diesem Jahr vom 22.03. bis 25.03.09 in Gießen statt. Der Kongress wird vom Physiologischen Institut der Universität Gießen organisiert. Tagungspräsident ist der frühere Institutsleiter und jetzige Rektor der Universität Düsseldorf Herr Prof. Dr. Dr. Hans Michael Piper. Für das lokale Organisationskomitee zeichnet Prof. Dr. Klaus-Dieter Schlüter verantwortlich. Veranstaltungsort ist das Philosophikum II der Universität Gießen.
Die Tagung ist eine der größten Treffen der Physiologen in Europa. Knapp 1500 wissenschaftliche Autoren haben insgesamt knapp 600 Beiträge aus dem In- und Ausland zusammen gestellt. Umrahmt wird das wissenschaftliche Programm von einer integrierten Industrieausstellung auf der die Hersteller die neusten Entwicklungen in Mikroskoptechniken und physiologischen Registrierungsapparturen vorstellen werden. Die Veranstalter freuen sich an den drei Tagen auf ca. 800 Kongressteilnehmer.
