Im Anschluss an den Vortrag ist Zeit für Fragen und Diskussionsbeiträge aus dem Publikum. Moderiert wird die Veranstaltung vom Rechtswissenschaftler Prof. Dr. Markus Heintzen von der Freien Universität Berlin. Organisiert wird der Vortrag von der Deutsch-Amerikanischen-Juristen-Vereinigung (DAJV).
Professor Darien Shanske unterrichtet seit 2008 als Associate Professor of Law an der University of California Hastings College of the Law und lehrt derzeit als Gastprofessor US-Verfassungsrecht an der Freien Universität Berlin. Schon früh entdeckte er sein Interesse am Bereich öffentlicher Finanzierungen. Er war bereits vor seinem Jurastudium als Finanzberater für Kommunalverwaltungen in Kalifornien tätig. Nach Abschluss seines Jurastudiums arbeitete er zunächst als Rechtsanwalt in der Abteilung für öffentliche Finanzen der internationalen Kanzlei Sidley Austin in San Francisco und als Clerk für Richter Pierre N. Leval of the U. S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit. Seine Interessenschwerpunkte liegen auf den Gebieten des Verfassungs-, Kommunal- und Steuerrechts sowie der Staatsfinanzen und Rechtsphilosophie.
