Hosted by the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO) and the Swedish Association for the Study of Obesity (SASO), the 2011 EASO Björntorp Symposium will again create an invaluable opportunity for intense in-depth scientific exchange between experienced internationally renowned scientists and younger research fellows from around Europe. The scientific programme has been developed by the 2011 Symposium Organising Committee and features some of the world’s leading experts in Obesity Research.

There is an opportunity for up to 50 European delegates to attend this prestigious, focussed event. Not only will you be exposed to the latest scientific developments, but you will be able to interact with fellow delegates and some of the most influential Key Opinion Leaders in the field.

Background and idea
The opportunities for intense in-depth scientific exchange between researchers interested in a particular topic in the field of obesity, especially between the experienced internationally high-rank scientists and the younger research fellows from various European countries, is rather limited in the usual settings of the European Congresses or other similar events. This may be facilitated by symposia in which the whole arrangement is aiming at such exchanges. There are supporting experiences from for example the Key Stone Symposia in the USA, the IASO Stock Conferences, and the Copenhagen Obesity Symposia, and others.

Name justification
EASO was founded by an initiative of the late Professor Per Björntorp (died 2003), Gothenburg, Sweden. He wanted EASO to be a forum for scientific exchanges and discussions, nothing else, and membership being based solely on dedicated scientific interest in obesity. Per Björntorp’s own research in abdominal obesity and metabolic syndrome has been inspiring for many European (and non-European) researchers through several decades.

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
