Soziale Arbeit ist eine sozialpolitische fundierte Disziplin. Doch in der Sozialpolitik herrschen seit einiger Zeit Konflikt und Konfusion darüber, welche Rolle der Wert "Gleichheit" spielen soll. Entsprechend irritiert ist auch die Soziale Arbeit. Die Kontroverse verläuft zwischen einer pragmatischen Dienstleistungsorientierung, die Sozialpolitik und Soziale Arbeit vor allem durch Sachzwänge bestimmt sieht, und der Vorstellung, dass Sozialpolitik vor allem Menschenrechte sichern und Soziale Arbeit als "Menschenrechtsprofession" auftreten soll.
Die diesjährige studentische Fachtagung zur Sozialpolitik soll mit Gästen aus Wissenschaft, Politik und Sozialer Arbeit ein Forum für Diskussion bieten, die Alltagserfahrungen, politische Positionen und theoretische Perspektiven verbinden.
