Der Max-Planck-Forschungspreisträger des Jahres 2009 Karl Galinsky präsentiert Augustus, den ersten römischen Kaiser und Gründer des Imperium Romanum, als Vorbild für Napoleon. Im Mittelpunkt seines Vortrags stehen Anknüpfungspunkte und Unterschiede in der Inszenierung der beiden Herrscher. Galinsky ist Professor für Klassische Philologie an der University of Texas in Austin, USA, und eröffnet in seinem Vortrag eine anregende Perspektive zur europäischen Erinnerungsgeschichte.
Der zweite Vortrag von Vittoria Borsò zum Thema "Napoleon in der europäischen Literatur des 19. Jahrhunderts: Enthusiasmus und Melancholie eines neuen Menschenbildes" findet am 12.4. statt.
