Our interest in metal-nucleobase interactions [1] has recently led us to prepare and study 2D and
3D molecular architectures, which in a way cross-link Bioinorganic Coordination Chemistry of
Nucleobases with Supramolecular Chemistry. The lecture will review this development and will
focus, among others, on artificial analogs of natural metal-nucleobase quartets, cyclic
metallacalix[n]arenes containing pyrimidine nucleobases [2], as well as anion hosts
composed of Pt or mixed Pt, Pd metal entities and nucleobases, or other N-heterocyclic
ligands [3].
