The Water Research Horizon Conference acts as a platform of dialogue on the Grand Challenges in water research. In its frame, the water science community meets annually to discuss among the various disciplines of water research on the major challenges to be met by integrated water science. National and international experts exchange on the fields of research that were identified during the 1st Water Research Horizon Conference, which will be further developed to fit the needs and available tools and methods. As a result of the 1st Water Research Horizon Conference, which took place in July 2010 in Berlin, a “White Paper” was formulated presenting the six priority research fields.
This conference, which is a major annual event of the Water Science Alliance, is organized by the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research – UFZ, who is the initiator of the Water Science Alliance.
