Durch das Erscheinen von Aby Warburg: Werke in einem Band (hrsg. v. Sigrid Weigel, Martin Treml und Perdita Ladwig) und der deutschen Übersetzung von Georges Didi-Huberman: Das Nachleben der Bilder (beide Suhrkamp Berlin 2010) ist die Forschung zu und nach Warburg um neue Perspektiven reicher geworden. So zählt er nicht mehr allein zum Kanon der Kunstgeschichte, sondern bereichert die Kulturwissenschaft um wichtige Einsichten in bildwissenschaftliche Theorien und erweist sich darin als intellektueller Zeitgenosse von Sigmund Freud und Walter Benjamin.
