Anlass für die Tagung ist die Verleihung des zweiten Nobelpreises an Marie Curie vor 100 Jahren. Die Konferenz findet im BMBF-Verbundprojekt ChemWiss - Chemikerinnen auf dem Weg in die Wissenschaft statt, das von dem Europäischen Sozialfonds gefördert wird. Es untersucht Aspekte chancengerechter Karriereentwicklung von Chemikerinnen in der Wissenschaft und analysiert insbesondere die Karriereorientierungen von Studierenden. Initiator ist das Rhein-Ruhr-Institut für Sozialforschung und Politikberatung (RISP) und die Soziologische Fakultät der Universität Duisburg-Essen. Prof. Dr. Ute Klammer, UDE-Prorektorin für Diversity Management, hält den Begrüßungsvortrag. Außerdem wird der L´OREAL UNESCO "FOR WOMEN IN SCIENCE" AWARD 2011 verliehen.
