Lynchen ist eine globale Form sozialer und politischer Gewalt. Gleichwohl wurde sie – wie bereits der Begriff zeigt – lange Zeit in erster Zeit mit den Rassenbeziehungen in den USA in Verbindung gebracht. In letzter Zeit rücken jedoch andere Gesellschaften und neue Fragestellungen in den Blickpunkt von Historikern und Sozialwissenschaftlern. Zu welchen Erkenntnissen diese erweiterte Perspektive geführt hat, ist Gegenstand des Vortrags.
