In der Finanz- und Staatsschuldenkrise wird die Rolle der Ratingagenturen hinterfragt. Aktuell geht es in den Diskussionen vor allem um die scheinbar willkürliche Herabstufung von Staaten der Eurozone wie Frankreich und Österreich. Bereits seit längerem wird daher an einer europäischen Ratingagentur gearbeitet, um das US-Oligopol aufzubrechen. Vorangetrieben wird dieses Projekt von Markus Krall, Senior Partner und Global Head Risk Management, Roland Berger Strategy Consultants GmbH.
