Zuvor treten die Teilnehmer des Wettbewerbs in den Kategorien "Wissenschaftler" und "Studierende" in einem nicht-öffentlichen Finale gegeneinander an. Hier präsentieren sie ihre Geschäftsideen vor einer Jury, der renommierte Vertreter aus Wirtschaft und der Wissenschafts-Wirtschaftskooperation angehören (u.a. IHK, Riemser, TZV, FMV). Die drei besten Ideen pro Kategorie werden mit Preisgeldern im Gesamtwert von 12.000 Euro prämiert. Zudem stiftet das Biotechnikum Greifswald einen Sonderpreis.
