We offer six lectures on popular economic and managerial topics in either English or German.
Additionally, visitors have the chance to join one of our guided tours. ESMT's headquarters and main campus is located in the former GDR Staatsratsgebäude in the heart of Berlin at Schlossplatz 1. The transformation of the Staatsratsgebäude into a modern learning institution started in 2004 and was completed at the end of 2005.
Experience ESMT European School of Management and Technology on October 13th, 2012.
Program:
12:15-1:00 p.m. English lecture by Sumitro Banerjee: Against all Odds - How skilled marketers defy economic downturn and prosper
Often people believe marketing is nothing but glitzy advertising and displays to persuade people to buy things they perhaps do not want. However, companies like Apple, Amazon, BMW and Google have continued to prosper despite the recent economic downturn. One thing they share in common is a deep understanding of what their customers really value in changing times, and the ability to communicate and deliver the same. Why is that some companies can do this while others cannot?
1:15-2:00 p.m. German lecture by Ulf Schäfer: Selbstmorde bei France Télécom – Warum? Was tun?
2:15-3:00 p.m. German lecture by Jörg Rocholl: Auf Risikokurs?
3:15-4:00 p.m. English lecture by Matthew Bothner: Annealing - A Method for Leading in a Cloud of Uncertainty
When executives are uncertain about the future, they often treat their employees like a sword-maker treats a sword and “anneal” them. Annealing is the process of heating metal and then cooling it in a better state. Outside the laboratory, annealing your employees is to “start a fire beneath them” to trigger innovative responses. What are the advantages and dangers of this tool?
3:30-4.15 p.m. German lecture by Katharina Lange and André Glardon: Medneo – Radiology as a service
