Health systems and their designs echo societies’ value systems. Thus, they serve specific needs: Since 2009, the Chinese central government has managed to make a health insurance available for 98 per cent of the population. In the US, however, individual freedom and personal responsibility influence the health system and the way it is financed. Hence, resistance to federal or state health insurance initiatives was and still is extensive. On the contrast, the citizens of many Western European countries, Germany included, take a first-class and state-of-the-art health care system for granted — available for everyone.
For many years, Rob Leonardi, Head of Regional Markets, Asia / Pacific, Munich Health, Munich Re, has monitored the emergence of health care systems globally. He advised private sector partners in many countries on how to establish and design health care and health insurance systems. In his lecture on 19 February, he will outline various approaches to health care systems and their underlying financial concepts. He will draw on his experiences from all over the world. Rob Leonardi will also discuss the social chances and risks and different health care systems might entail.

There will be a Q&A session with Rob Leonardi after his lecture. Afterwards, Frankfurt School hosts a reception. The event is open to the public and attendance is free of charge.
