Breaking the Wall of Impunity in Guatemala The Genocide Trial of Ex-Dictator Efrain Rios Montt by Victoria Sanford, PHD (Lehman College)

In August of 2012, Dr. Sanford served as an invited expert witness on the Guatemalan genocide before Judge Santiago Pedraz in the Spanish National Court’s international genocide case against the Guatemalan generals. In her presentation at GIGA, she will discuss the Guatemalan Genocide, the Spanish Tribunal and the current Genocide trial of ex-dictator Efrain Rios Montt in Guatemala.

Dr. Victoria Sanford is professor of Anthropology at Lehman College and a member of the Doctoral Faculty at City University of New York. She is the founding director of the Lehman Center for Human Rights and Peace Studies.
