Abstract: At the intersection of nucleic acid and boronic acid chemistries lies a thriving world of possibilities. During the past decades, the merging of these research domains has led to fascinating discoveries in different fields ranging from material to medical sciences. In recent years the interplay of these two worlds has gained a lot of attention, as can be judged by the increasing number of articles in which boron and nucleic acids stand out for their potential medicinal, biotechnological or analytical applications. In this lecture, we will present our latest work at this crossroad by focusing on both the interaction of boronated compounds with nucleic acids, and on the modification of nucleic acids by boron containing moieties. In particular, we will emphasize the development of dynamic and adaptive synthetic systems involving the formation of reversible boronate linkages. The dynamic assembly of this new borono-based helix has been accomplished through a DNA- or a RNA-templated autoligation process featuring a 5’-ended boronic acid oligonucleotide connecting to a 3’-ended ribonucleosidic oligonucleotide partner. The autoligation process was found to be reversibly controlled by various external stimuli such as variations of pH, temperature or by the presence of anions. The modular characteristics of these new architectures will be exposed.

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
