Syrien im Frieden. Das ist derzeit Utopie und war vor gar nicht allzu langer Zeit einmal Realität. Die »Bilder aus dem Damaszener Frühling« zeigen das Land 2004 bis 2008 vor dem Bürgerkrieg.
Die Fotografien entstanden zum großen Teil während der Aufenthalte von Prof. van Buer für das TEMPUS-Projekt (Joint European Tempus Project) von 2005 bis 2008 an den Hauptuniversitäten Damaskus und Aleppo. Sie zeigen den Blick zurück in die Phase vor dem Bürgerkrieg, die vor allem durch eine vorsichtige Liberalisierung geprägt war. Es sind Bilder aus dem städtischen Alltag dieses so kurzen Damaszener Frühlings.
Jürgen van Buer ist Professor für Wirtschaftspädagogik und Dekan der Philosophischen Fakultät IV an der Humboldt-Universität.
Die Fotografien können im Rahmen der Ausstellung auch käuflich erworben werben. Der Gewinn wird ohne Abzug an „Ärzte ohne Grenzen e.V. / Médecins sans Frontiers“ mit dem Verwendungszweck „Syrien“ gespendet.
